Saschiz ceramic cup
Made by Marinel Gyorfi, from Saschiz, Mureș County.
Saschiz pottery was the occupation of Saxon potters in Saschiz until the 17th century, when the craft was abandoned. The Transylvanian cobalt blue pottery was obtained by the sgraffito technique (by scratching), specific to this area. In the 21st century, the well-known potter Cornel Sitar, creator of Baia Mare ceramics, tried to revive Saschiz pottery. And since 2015, the „Camelia Botnar” and „ADEPT” Foundations have contributed to the rediscovery of the old technique and to the training of young people to carry on Saschiz pottery. Although, as in the case of Voroneț blue and Săpânța blue, no one knows how to obtain Saschiz blue, the young potters strive to reproduce both the color and the specific ornaments of Saschiz pottery. Fir honey
Produced by the Plăvănescu family in the heart of Moldova, in Bârnova village, Iași County. With a beekeeping tradition of 4 generations, the Plăvănescu family has two apiaries with over 300 bee families. Fir honey has a less sweet taste, with a malt-like aroma, dark color, sometimes to black, and a lower water content than other varieties of bee honey. The spectrum of sugars is clearly different from that of other varieties of honey. Fructose (37%) predominates over glucose (32%), but there are also almost 11% disaccharides and melezitosis. In general, the spectrum of sugars in fir honey is shifted to high molecular weight sugars. Fir honey contains trace elements such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, zinc, boron, iron, copper. Fir honey has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunostimulating, epithelial, depurative properties, intervening in the amelioration and even cure of bacterial, dermatological, degenerative, inflammatory and immune system diseases.
